Tehran to host UN summit on dust storms
The United Nation will hold a summit on sand and dust storms in the fourth Iranian calendar month of Tir (June 22-July 22), environment chief Masoumeh Ebtekar said
“Numerous resolutions and documents have been proposed and adopted by international bodies for two years now to address sand and dust storms and in line with those measures the UN is organizing the first international summit to tackle and mitigate the dust storms,” Khabaronline quoted Ebtekar as saying.
Sand and dust storms mostly originated from hotspots in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Central Asia are adversely affecting Iranian cities adjacent to the aforesaid areas and causing great discomfort for the poor dwellers.
Elsewhere in her remarks, Ebtekar highlighted that “We met with Iraqi officials in 2013 to discuss the matter, however the war and the following insatiability and the safety issues impeded efforts to resolve the issue.”
Fortunately, the chief said, it’s been two months that Baghdad has expressed readiness to counter the predicament and preliminary talks to take first step to combat dust storms began last week.
Commenting on the clean air bill which has been recently passed by the Majlis (the Iranian parliament) Ebtekar pointed that the bill would play a key role in improving the air quality in metropolises and also promoting the use of new energies.
Some of the regulations of the newly approved bill are already adopted and will be soon imposed; some are drafted and will be discussed and passed by the cabinet too, she noted.
With people on board and promoting the use of public transportation, hybrid cars, and improving fuel quality air quality would increase day by day, she said.

تهران میزبان اجلاسی از سران سازمان ملل متحد در خصوص گرد و غبار
معصومه ابتکار رئیس سازمان محیط زیست کشور اظهارداشت که سازمان ملل متحد اجلاسی را به منظور طوفان شن و گرد و غبار در تیرماه ، چهارمین ماه سال از تقویم ایرانی که مصادف با 22 ماه ژوئن تا 22ماه جولای است ، برگزار خواهد کرد .
به گزارش خبرگزاری خبر آنلاین و به نقل از ابتکار، از دوسال پیش تاکنون ، سازمان های بین المللی قطعنامه و اسناد متعددی را در خصوص معضل طوفان شن و گرد و غبار مطرح کرده و رسیدگی آن را به تصویب رساندند و در همین راستا ،اقدامات سازمان ملل متحد برای سازمان دهی نخستین اجلاس بین المللی مرتبط با مهار طوفان گرد وغبارو کاهش آن در حال اجرا می باشد .
طوفان شن و گرد و غبار از نواحی خشکی چون عراق ، عربستان صعودی ،افغانستان و آسیای مرکزی نشأت گرفته شده است و به شهرهای کشور ایران که همجوار نواحی فوق الذکر می باشند تأثیرات منفی گذاشته و برای ساکنین مستمند معضل بزرگی ایجاد کرده است .
ابتکار در قسمتی از سخنان خود تاکید نمود : با وجود اینکه با مقامات ارشد عراقی درخصوص ریزگردها در سال 92(2013) دیداری داشتیم ،اما جنگ و به دنبال آن بی ثباتی ، مسائل امنیتی مانع از پیشبرد حل و فصل این معضل شد .
رئیس سازمان حفاظت از محیط زیست گفت : خوشبختانه حدود 2 ماه است که دولت بغداد برای مقابله با این معضل اعلام آمادگی کرده است و به دنبال آن هفته ی گذشته مذاکرات اولیه برای اجرایی شدن اولین گام در مبارزه با ریزگردها آغاز شد.
معصومه ابتکار با اشاره به تصویب لایحه ی هوای پاک که اخیرا در مجلس شورای اسلامی صورت گرفته است خاطرنشان کرد که این لایحه نقش کلیدی و مهمی را برای ارتقای کیفیت هوا در کلان شهرها و همچنین ترویج استفاده از انرژی های نو خواهد داشت .
وی متذکر شد که برخی از ضوابط موجود در آیین نامه های این لایحه که اخیراً تصویب شده است آماده بوده و به زودی ابلاغ میگردد ، اما برخی دیگر از آنها تنها پیش نویس شده و پس از اتمام کار توسط هیئت دولت بررسی و تصویب می گردد.
وی افزود : با همکاری مردم و ترویج استفاده از وسایل حمل و نقل عمومی ،استفاده از ماشین های برقی و ارتقای سطح کیفیت سوخت ها ،روز به روز کیفیت هوا بهبود خواهد یافت .
