Ashura
Ashura is an Arabic word that literally means tenth. Although the root of the word is Aramaic, with the spread of Arabic after Islam, it is a common word in all Semitic languages. it is specifically used for the tenth day of Muharram that is regarded as an important and a special day.
There are a few different views about the reason of naming the aforesaid day as "Ashura". One states that since it is the 10th day of Muharram, it is called so; while others believe, it is named so, because Allah bestowed his ten prophets ten kinds of bounties on this special day. In fact, this day is important not only for Muslims, but also for the other two Semitic religions, Judaism and Christianity.
This day is important for the Jews because Prophet Moses was saved from the tyranny of Pharaoh on the Day of Ashura and in order to honor this special day, the Jews fast on this day.
Another reason that makes Ashura remarkable in Islam is that it is the day when Husayn, the blessed grandson of Prophet Muhammad and the master of the youth of heaven, was martyrized. As a matter of fact, Allah bestowed high ranks to this blessed martyr who sacrificed himself for the sake of saving and defending the Islamic truths. Through martyrdom, he attained such an otherworldly and magnificent ranks that no worldly authority could reach.عاشورا
عاشورا یک لغت عربی است که ترجمه لفظ به لفظ آن دهمین است. بااینکه ریشه این کلمه از زبان آرامی است، با گسترش عربی بعد از اسلام، یک لغت معمول در تمامی زبان های سامی به شمار می آید. در اسلام این لغت به طور اخص برای روز دهم محرم به کار می رود که اشاره به یک روز مهم و خاص دارد. در مورد دلیل ناميدن روز مزبور به نام عاشورا، دیدگاه های مختلفی وجود دارد. یکی از اظهار نظر ها این است که از آنجایی که این روز دهمین روز از ماه محرم است، اینگونه نامیده می شود. در حالی که دیگران معتقدند دلیل آن اینست که خداوند در این روز خاص، به ده پیامبر خود، ده نعمت بخشیده است. در حقیقت این روز نه تنها برای مسلمانان، بلکه برای دو مذهب سامی دیگر، یهود ومسيحيت، نیز قابل اهميت است. این روز برای یهودی ها مهم است چون موسای پیامبر در روز عاشورا از ظلم فرعون نجات یافت و به منظوراحترام به این روز خاص است که یهودیان این روز را روزه می گیرند.
دلیل دیگری که در اسلام باعث می شود عاشورا روز خاص و مورد توجهی باشد این است که در این روز امام حسین (ع) نوه ی بزرگوار پیامبر محمد (ٌص) و سالار جوانان بهشت به شهادت رسیدند. در حقیقت خداوند بالاترین درجه را به این شهید مقدس که خودش را فدای نجات حقايق اسلام و دفاع از آن کرد، بخشیده است. ایشان با شهادتشان به چنان جایگاه اخروی و باشکوهی دست یافتند که هیچ مقام دنیوی نمی تواند به آن دست یابد.
