پره ها یا سطوح گسترش یافته (Extended surfaces)

سطوح گسترش یافته یا پره ها (fins) سطوحی هستند که در مبحث انتقال حرارت بسیار کاربرد دارند. هنگامی که تمایل داریم حرارت از سطح داغتر به سطح خنک تر انتقال یابد با افزودن این پره ها سطح مقطع بیشتری برای تماس دو سطح گرم و سرد فراهم کرده ایم.
در ادامه توضیحات بیشتری با ارائه تصویر و مثال مفهوم پره ها را بیان میکنیم:
در مبدل های گرمایی هوا خنک (air cooler) مجموعه ای از چند لوله که حاوی سیال با دمای بالا مانند آب است؛ وجود دارد. این لوله ها توسط چند فن پوشیده شده اند. این فن ها وظیفه انتقال حرارت جابجایی (forced convection) را برعهده دارند.
بدین صورت که هوا را به روی لوله ها می دمند و هوا گرمای لوله ها را میگیرد و سبب خنک شدن سیال درون آن میشود. حال اگر سطح لوله ها افزایش یابد، انتقال حرارت بهتری صورت میگیرد. چرا که میزان هوای بیشتری با سطح لوله ها در تماس است. لذا پره هایی به این لوله ها افزوده میشود.
